I believe Cortez knew that the Undreaming needed to be united with the First Dreamer, and he needed a suitable vessel to make that happen. It seems as though Brian wasn't made aware of his ultimate purpose considering Cortez helped April first, it would make very little sense to also help Brian if he was only going to hinder April/Zoe/Kian, UNLESS he had a larger, more important goal in mind. This implies that Cortez already knows what's going to happen, or that he has some reason for aiding Brian in his trek to the monastery.

He mentions to Brian, at the end of Dreamfall, that time is a cycle, and that Brian has something he must do. My theory is that Cortez is somehow connected to time as a whole.

When had the Undreaming been before Brian became a prophet? Why did Brian go to capture Undreaming in the first place? What was the plan that was apparently built in agreement with Cortez, who helped him to get there to begin with? The Drac Kin and friend of April. And the fact, when he met this thing (from the start) doesn't work as well. The theory from third game isn't right for me as clearly it would be strange, that he supposingly wanted to go to Arcadia from Stark to meet undreaming, so that he could destroy magic because he knew he would like to finally go home (Stark) and he would grow frustrated. Where did undreaming go then? Went to sleep? Somewhere in the middle he became a drunk sour man, with no scheme. Some could have thought that it was undreaming that overpowered him. And that's why it doesn't add up to me.įirst two games will promote theory that he wants to travel, but got lost in the middle and faced Undreaming. And his very need now is to leave Arcadia and the magic world that he hates because he has been stuck in it. He wanted to master it to use for his purpose and do everything so that it wouldn't take control of him. But now, in DFC it seems that he wanted to possess Undreaming from the very beginning. You could hear about the choice he couldn't change and how it would change everything in general. He ended up in Tibetan monastery (no-magic world) on some kind of mission. If you played TLJ and DF, you learnt that Brian considered himself as a great travel, whose ambition was to discover as much as possible. Monastery - I couldn't really get the motive.
